Dick and Betty Garvey Scholarship

Dick and Betty Garvey, now deceased, were long-time Stevens County ranchers and wood-lot operators. Dick has been president of the Northeast Washington Fair Board, the Stevens County Cattlemen’s Association and the Tri-County Sheep Producers. He also served on the WSU Stevens County Extension Advisory Board for 15 years. The Garveys had been associated with WSU Extension since the mid-1950s. Neither Dick nor Betty, nor any of their children attended WSU, but they said both their ranching and family lives were tremendously influenced by WSU’s Extension programs and credits WSU with providing answers to questions and access to agricultural and forestry information that helped them succeed.

Scholarships will be awarded to students majoring in Animal Sciences or Natural Resource Science, with preference to students from Stevens County.
